Red Right Hand: FIVE THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME

FIVE THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME

Until now. From the MeMe on John Rogers' Kung Fu Monkey and Denis McGrath's Dead Things on Sticks. (Since they are not memes, they are MeMe's, 'cuz all these false memes are about the person perpetuating. That's the Avitable rationalization for continuing to call it a meme...or rather a MeMe). I hope this is okay as I am neither Canadian nor live in Canada.

One of the following is not true.

1. I have had my work produced on Broadway.

2. I have appeared on two prime time dramas.

3. I spent significant time in Guantanamo Bay.

4. I've performed in a band that opened for Depeche Mode and The Cult.

5. I was a roadie for The Neville Brothers, Chaka Khan and El DeBarge.

Use the comments section to ferret out which one is a fabrication. I will respond to challenges there. If there are no challenges, then everything must be true.

Okay I played this game at the Expo and got about 30 wrong before I finally got one right - not an exaggeration - so nobody else guess mine. I'm going with number 3.

Good try, but no.

My father was stationed there in the Navy and me and the 'rents lived there for about five years when I was but a wee child.

One down, four to go. Next!

I know that you appeared in at least one prime time drama, so I'm guessing #2 is correct.

I know that you lived in Guantanamo Bay, so obviously #3 is correct.

I know that you're an avid music fan, and although I can't see you doing anything other than playing drums, I could see you opening locally in Chitown for those bands, so I'll guess that #4 is correct.

That leaves 5 and 1. I know you've had work produced, but I didn't think it was on Broadway. And #5 is so detailed that it has to be true.

So I say #1.

Oh yeah, Happy fucking birthday!

Ah yes, even people I know in RL are stumped.

#1 is true, but I'm a tricky bastich.

Radio Ghost (written my your truly) was produced by the Strawdog Theatre Company in their theatre at 3829 N. Broadway...in Chicago.

Two down, three to go. Next luck contestant, come on down.

(of things that I can play, BTW, drums is not one)

Man, I even thought you might Broadway in Chicago when I read it. Lots of great little theaters up there. I used to live right around the corner at Clark & Belmont.

I guess #5 precisely because it is so specific. A longer list of factors leaves more room for falsehood.

And the people are 0 for 3.

I was in fact a roadie for that eclectic group...for one day...in Philadelphia.

Hard sweaty work. Too hard for my lazy ass, but awesome pay and in cash.

And El DeBarge was a whiny little bitch.

2 and 4 remain in play. Who dares take a 50/50 shot?

I'm going with 4. No reason, other than a gut feeling. What do I win? :-)

By the way, did you know Richard Shavzin? Or Rich Cotovsky over at the Mary-Arrrchie? I was a company member there for a bit.

The prize is a sense of self-satisfaction and given the odds were down to 50/50...it's not even an especially smug one.

Yes, number four is actually Mark Eliopolous from Stabbing Westward. A guy I knew him once. Maybe one day, he'll turn up again.

Elaboration on number two for those interested: I was an extra on ER in season 5 and also on a short lived cops-and-their-familys type show called Turks that starred William Devane. My total screen time between two episodes of each show is a little under three seconds.

I got to chat with Devane, he was a good guy and another guy who played one of his sons who...upon looking up on IMDB to figure out who he was exactly... I'm shocked to discover is now Sherriff Lamb on Veronica Mars. Damnation! Obviously I didn't recognize him or anything. It's been some time and I had no idea who he was then.

On ER, I met Noah Wyle, Kellie Martin and George Clooney (in his final episode (not counting the uncredited cameo when Margulies left)).

And no, didn't know those guys you mentioned, Eric. Didn't know most people around that area.

This concludes FIVE THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME...stay tuned for TWENTY-SIX THINGS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT.
